2,671 suspected IP violations cleared in about 16 hours

A US seller had 2,671 listings flagged for suspected IP violations in one evening, every one at risk of removal within two days. About 16 hours later, 6 were left.

The problem

On 31 July 2024 Amazon flagged 2,671 of the seller's listings for suspected intellectual property violations. Every row gave the same reason, design right misuse: Amazon suspected the listings used a design registered by someone else. Each one was marked at risk of removal, with the fix due by 2 August.

What we did

We found exactly what Amazon was reacting to, corrected the listings in bulk and opened cases so Amazon would look at them again.

The result

At 12:40 pm on 1 August, about 16 hours after our first screenshot at 8:21 pm the evening before, the same page with the same filter showed 6 left. 2,665 flags were gone.
